The Botulinum Toxin, Botox®

At your disposition, perfectly controlled products:

For the crow’s foot
For the wrinkles on the forehead
For the wrinkles in the middle of the two eyebrows (glabella)
To rebuild the eyebrow
For the hyper sudation

By means of repetition, some facial movements such as frowns, blinkings and foldings of the nose strengthen the muscles which are solicited; this is the origin of the expression wrinkles. The crow’s foot, the wrinkles of the forehead and the wrinkles in the middle of the two eyebrows are parts of this category. Fortunately, a corrective treatment which was especially conceived for the expression wrinkles of the eyes and the forehead tackle the source of the problem: muscles.

While rejuvenating the face, Botox® gives it a more relaxed, serene and rested appearance. Botox® is a security tool which weakens the muscles which cause the wrinkles at the top of the face. This substance produced by the clostridium botulinum bacterium is purified and extracted in controlled conditions. This is a security and efficient treatment to correct wrinkles. Even though it is perceptible 72 hours after the treatment, its favourable effect reaches its maximum 10 to 15 days later.

A simple treatment for a long-lived action

Method

- Any preparation of the skin is necessary before the injection;
- Any allergic test is realized (no know allergy).
- The injection is not very painful so it doesn’t necessitate any local anaesthesia.
- In case of persistence of the wrinkle, it is possible to add an injection of hyaluronic acid.

The operation as such is accomplished in 15 minutes. The doctor injects little quantities of toxins in the muscle. Two annual injections are usually recommended in order to keep the concerned muscles at rest.

Secondary effects

They are minor and due to the technique of the injection.

- Transitory cephalalgia
- A drought of the eye
- A pain to the injection (if too close to the periosteum)
- An asymmetry of the eyebrows
- A ptosis (drooping) of the queue of the eyebrow
- An oedema of the lower eyelid
- A lowering of the base of the eyebrows

Is Botox® a dangerous substance?

The clostridium bacterium produces a toxin which, when absorbed in amounts, can cause botulism, a rare food poisoning. Doses at least a thousand times higher than those used for the treatment are needed.
To compare, the aspirin can reveal fatal if the ingurgitated doses are ten times higher than those recommended, even thought it is known as a security medicine. Thus Botox® has a much bigger security margin than the majority of medicines.

Indications

Botox® represents the ideal alternative to surgical lifting. As a rejuvenating product, it cures some imperfections of the face as a queue of a falling eyebrow for example. The injections of Botox® are useful for man as well as for woman. There are no age limits.

Contra indications

Note that the use of curatives by the patients who received some botulinum toxin can expose to unusual effects. Don’t take aspirin or anti-inflammatory as medicines at least for a week before and after the treatment. Avoid any pressure, as lying down on the treated area or massing the treated area for 6 hours after the treatment.

Is it the best solution to my problem?

Conceived specifically to soften the expression wrinkles, Botox® acts on muscles under the skin; it will not necessarily modify all the wrinkles in surface. There are other methods to reduce this type of wrinkles, such as collagen, goretex, peeling, fat injection or laser. Thanks to his experience in all those techniques, the doctor will know how to drive you towards the solution the most appropriate for your skin problem.
