The Protein Diet

The dietary, medical and surgical treatments of weighable excess load are numerous, but to loose weight is difficult, and numerous people have “break their teeth”.
The ideal diet must be easy, quick, efficient and reliable.

The protein diet was born in the USA in the sixties and, since then, numerous persons profited by it, with a permanent improvement of the quality and of the composition of the proteins, especially concerning the composition of the essential amino acids.

The average feeding in our country – too rich in fat and sugar – decays as follow:

- 50 to 55% of carbohydrates (sugars)
- 30 to 35% of lipids (fats)
- 12 to 14% of proteins

Principle

It’s a selective contribution in proteins associated to a quasi-total restriction of sugars and fats, leading to a ketogenesis and a gluconeogenesis: modifications of our metabolism, thanks to the burning of our own fat, leading to the production of energy and of ketone bodies which give an impression of satiety “appetite suppressant effect”.

Thanks to this new balance called Hyperprotein Dissociated Diet, the reserves of proteins (foundation element of the cellular construction) of our organism are maintained since our needs are largely covered by protein preparations. So there is no muscular melting as with standard diets.

In usual feeding, proteins are from an animal (meets, fishes, eggs, milk-products) and vegetable (especially cereal products, leguminous plants and vegetables) origin.
The proteins contained in the small bags are thus coming from these two origins also: milk and eggs, and soy beans.

The growing thinner is achieved at the expense of the fat mass!

Evolution

The food suppression of the carbohydrates and lipids will have different consequences on:

- the lipogenesis, with an inhibition of the forming of new fat,
- the lipolysis, with a stimulation of the melting of the existing fat,
- the ketogenesis, with liberation of ketone bodies as soon as the third day, causing the effect of satiety,
- the disappearance of the reserves of sugars in the organism in 24 hours,
- the protection of the muscular mass thanks to the contribution in proteins.

These different modifications lead to a quick and comfortable loss of weight.

Indications

- the obesity and the weighable excess load,
- the prevention of their complications (cardio-vascular diseases, diabetes, venous insufficiency, breathing disorders, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, etc),
- the correction of metabolic disorders such as the hyperinsulinism and the hypertriglyceridemia,
- the quick slimming (before a surgical operation).

Advantages

- quick loss of weight and volume,
- fatty loss, with protection of the muscular mass,
- absence of hunger (anorexigen effect of the ketone bodies),
- sensation of well-being (psychostimulating effect of the ketone bodies),
- protection of the tonicity of the skin,
- simplicity of “mise en oeuvre”,
- flexibility thanks to the possibility of going from one phase to the other,
- Security: method under medical control, with previous check-up if needed, vitaminic complement, etc…

Secondary effects

- bad breath: reflection of the good success of the diet, due to the production of ketone bodies (can be erased with pills Exova®),
- diarrhoea: very rare, occurs in case of microbial pullulation, needs the interruption of the diet,
- Constipation: means that the bowels miss fibres. Drink more water in order to distend the fibres,
- Orthostatic hypotension: due to a decrease of the volume of intra-vascular liquid. Increase the contribution of salt,
- Loss of hair: very rare and reversible. An additional contribution of zinc is recommended,
- Nocturnal cramps and muscular weakness: is explained by an under-dosage of potassium,
- Cephalalgia: can occur for 10% of the patients during the first days of the diet and will be treated with antalgic,
- Monthly disturbances: possible at the beginning of the diet, the oestrogens being particularly synthesized by the adipocytes (the reduction of the fatty tissue obliging the organism to adapt at the beginning of the cure),
- Allergy to the proteins of milk or egg: exceptional.

Stages

The three stages of the method:

- Steps 1, 2, 3: the active protein diet.
It’s the starting of the catabolism of the triglycerides (fats’ degradation), initiated by the abstinence. It is during this stage that the ketone bodies will give to the organism a big part of its energetic reserves.

- Steps 4, 5, 6: the selective protein diet and stabilization.
Progressive reintroduction of slow sugars (bread, pasta, rice, potatoes) and of fruits.

Step 7: food balance.
In order to find back healthy and balanced habits.

Results

- Quick loss of weight: from 2.5 to 3 kilos the first week; 2 kilos of weekly loss in cruise period (around 5 to 6 kilos per month),
- Removal of the insulin-resistance, with a glycemia tending to normalize in less than a week,
- Quick decrease of the total cholesterol, from 5 to 25% which leads to a parallel decrease of the LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), as well as a decrease of the triglycerides from 15 to 50%,
- Falling or the arterial tension from 8 to 13% in the stout hyper tensed patients ,
- Regression of sleep apnea and decrease of snores,
- Decrease of the cellulite by the acceleration of the lipolysis.

Conclusion

The upholding of the health weight is a big challenge since neither the therapy of food behavior, neither the restrictive diets have proved sufficiently efficient to assure it.

It’s important to remind that obesity is a chronic disease which needs a chronic treatment.

Only the association of the increase of the energetic spending with a behavioral follow-up and a caloric restriction (obtain here by a hyperprotein dissociated diet) can contribute to the upholding of the weight, and thus thwart the genetic predispositions. The physical exercise is recognized as being the best long-lived guarantee of the weighable stabilization.
